Woven Stone Necklace
It was an interesting puzzle putting these stones together. It started with a couple of them just lying next to one another, then another, and another. It's as if someone or something was just handing them to me from my pile of rocks. They began to form a pattern. A conversation with them ensued. Weaving them together in a way that worked took a long time and patience. I chose to use continuous pieces of our leather as much as possible to achieve a feeling of fluidity while still remaining stable. I was so pleased with the results. The necklace is stunning both on and off the body. I am intrigued to meet the bold being it belongs to! In due time...
The stones and sea glass came from the central coast of California. The shell pieces came from the sultry beaches of the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
The necklace is adjustable by way of a striped shell slider. It can be worn as long as 24" inches or up close as a collar with the shell pieces resting around your neck and rocks dangling down your back.
The main plate of rocks is 3 5/8” high and 4 3/4” wide. The upper shell, rock, sea glass elements are 1 1/4” high by 1 1/4” wide.
